Where did I leave you last?

So I've left you all again for another 2 weeks it seems. Camp has still been crazy; we had the first week of our summer camp kids this week. Jon had his set of campers, and he had a great week. And since I work pretty much everywhere, I got to meet a lot of the kids too. Climbing...new places: The Thumb and the Needle and Clear Creek Canyon. Both places were fun, but I had a blast at Clear Creek and am planning to return soon to work on sending this super fun 5.11b. Really overhanging and juggy with a few crimps thrown in and really super fun.

Our support staff started doing our devotions this week in school bus #8, and I'm really enjoying that. I've also started to read Richard Foster's "Celebration of Discipline" which I'm also thoroughly enjoying.

In case I haven't mentioned it yet, I've started to make jewelry and am selling it in the camp store with some success already. :)

Overall, we're having a great time. I'm learning a lot about patience and that it's not about me. And our first devotion in our book, "Contagious Living", was about complaining which left me with some good thoughts and challenges for the week and for the rest of the summer.

Again, hope y'all are doing well, and I hope the weather is better for you...wherever you are (I think that siren I just heard was for a severe thunderstorm or tornado or something). :)

I'm still here

Once again, time has gotten away from me. I see that it has been much too long since my last post. What has happened in my absence? Climbing, work, more work than climbing, but still climbing. I was silly thinking that Jon would be my only other solid climbing partner here. We have an awesome staff here at Covenant Heights this summer and have a small group of up-and-coming climbers who have accompanied us on our adventures. We've made several trips to Jurassic Park and Nicki's Boulders (Jon sent a V2 we've been working--Dave and I have yet to send). This weekend we'll be heading to Horsetooth Reservoir for some hopefully awesome weather=awesome climbing.

As far as work goes, being support/rope staff is a little bit of everything. Lots of projects and odd jobs. Like today for example, working in the Poo-room (our sewage plant) raking gravel and thinking that the smell would knock me unconscious. We have Royal Family Kids Camp here right now, a camp for kids who have been abused and neglected. It's been really cool just encouraging the kids in their daily activities and seeing them succeed at the climbing wall and archery (we've had some naturals). Through all this God is teaching me a lot about patience and pride. I'm not above doing anything...even working in the Poo-room. :) He keeps reminding me that this summer is not about me, it's about Him and serving Him. And whether I can do that by encouraging kids to top the climbing wall, jump off the zip line, or by cleaning trash and junk behind the sewage plant, I want to do it with a joyful heart.

Tonight at chapel our staff took communion together, each person serving communion to another. We had a time of silent confession and then we took some time just offering up praises/thanks to God. Jon and I talked a bit afterward and both of us have felt convicted that we haven't been giving God the time He deserves. it's been a busy couple weeks, but we're going to be bringing the Word and prayer back into a regular habit.

This summer is already going by way too fast...so much to learn, do, and climb. :) And hopefully, Colorado's spring season is finally wearing off meaning no rain every day. So everyone, please pray for me, and I pray that your summer is going superbtacular as well.
Blessings,
Meaghan
